I attended the talk on the Perak Crisis: The lessons for Two-Party System in Malaysia (Krisis Perak: Pengajaran Menuju Sistem Dua Party di Malaysia ) at Dewan Masyarakat Penyayang, Penang. The speaker was YB Dato' Seri Nizar Jamaluddin (Menteri Besar Perak)
It was such a great opportunity to finally meet the man himself - Dato' Seri Ir. Haji Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, the Chief Minister of Perak.
I was seated there in the hall when without announcement the Deputy Chief Minister of Penang, Dr. Mansor Othman, walked in. The ADUN of Pantai Jerejak Y.B. Sim Tze Tzin, as the MC of the day, had to ask someone to move so that Dr. Mansor could be seated. No special chair, no special place for him. He was just like one of us.
Wow! That is something I've never seen before. The ministers from umNO-nazi party must have trumpets, red carperts etc to announce their arrival. Even a small fart, like an umNO-nazi party pengarah will wait for the sentence: "Mengumumkan ketibaan...."("Announcing the arrival of....") and he must be seated on a special dais.
A minute later the Chief Minister of Perak, Dato' Seri Ir. Haji Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, walked in. Again he walked in without any pomp and pageant. He was so simple and so humble - so down to earth.
Y.B. Sim Tze Tzin, did a good job at chairing the event. It was the first time meeting him. He was also so friendly and approachable. Bravo! to you guys.
This is what we want in our leaders.
