NO to Service tax of RM50 on Credit Cards Campaign (NSTCC)

I have not updated this blog for a long time.. now Najis has poked the hornet's nest once again..

Budget 2010
  • Credit cards
  • There will be no more free credit cards which are currently being used extensively. The number increased from more than two million in 1997 to 11 million as of August 2009, excluding 285,000 charge cards.
  • To promote prudent spending, a service tax of RM50 a year will be imposed on each principal credit card and charge card, including those issued free of charge.
  • There will also be service tax of RM25 a year imposed on each supplementary card.
The gomen of bolehland loves to make the common citizens suffer. Today almost all banks do not impose any fee for the use of credit cards. I have a so-called "free for life" credit card.

Has anyone gone to line up at one of the pathetic post office lately?

Credit cards are so useful as we can put our bill payments on auto-pay mode. Then at the end of the month pay all those bills at once at one of the auto-tellers at anytime of the day.

With the imposition of the RM50 tax on each card than Malaysians have to Najis RM550 million annually.

I have two cards which means I have to pay Najis RM100 per year. I am NOT going to do that. I am going to use Internet banking instead.

I propose a campaign :

"NO
to Service tax of RM50 on
Credit Cards" Campaign (NSTCC)

I urge all Malaysian credit card users to join in a campaign to return/cancel all their credit card/s to their respective bank/s on Thursday, 31 December 2009.

Let's not give even a cent to Najis.

So have that date marked out in your diary / calendar.

31 December 2009
